Russia has passed on its proposals for a new meeting in the Normandy format - Lavrov

Russia has passed its proposals for a new meeting in the Normandy format (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia) to its partners and expects their reaction. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this on the air of the TV channel "Russia-1," writes TASS.

"Our proposals on how we could meaningfully prepare a contact in the Normandy format - no matter at what level - we passed on to our colleagues, we expect a reaction from them," he said.

German ambassador to Russia Geza Andreas von Geir told reporters on Monday that a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Normandy quartet is being prepared, but the date has not yet been set, the agency reported.

It is noteworthy that Ukraine and partners over the past few months repeatedly called on Russia to hold a meeting in the Normandy format at the level of foreign ministers.

Thus, following a telephone conversation between the leaders of Russia, France and Germany, which took place on October 11, the Kremlin said that the parties had agreed to hold a meeting of the "Normandy Four" at the level of foreign ministers to discuss, among other things, "the prerequisites for the possible organization of a Normandy summit, if necessary".

Afterwards, the Kremlin said that the dates for a meeting of the Normandy quartet foreign ministers had not yet been set, but that such a meeting could help to organize a high-level summit.

When asked about the possibility of holding a summit at the level of foreign ministers, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said earlier that Ukraine was expecting a signal from Moscow but that the Ukrainian diplomatic office had not received "any signals" so far.
