In Ukraine, interruptions to rail passenger service may begin on October 12, 8 to 10 trains will not leave the depot. This was announced by the head of the independent trade union «Ukrzaliznytsia» Oleksandr Skyba.
«At 12:30 Ukrzaliznytsia employees start an Italian strike. Or «work according to instructions», when all staff go to work, but perform only those actions that do not contradict safety and job descriptions. And as with Ukrzaliznytsia «to put it mildly, there are problems, the work will actually be blocked,» says Skiba.
According to Skyba, 6 depots on the Southern Railway, 3 depots on the South-Western Railway, employees of the Prydniprovska branch and the Lviv Western Depot will join this action.
«We have written an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers many times, and the SBU – the rolling stock is falling apart, railway workers work in inhumane conditions for meager salaries. But there is no reaction from the UZ leadership or the authorities. Therefore, their hope for a protest,» he said. Chairman of the union.
He emphasizes that the railwaymen will simply not release from the depot those rolling stock that are in poor technical condition.
«There will be no 8-10 depots today,» Skiba said, but did not specify which ones.
