Bought by James Clark Ross, which Ukraine recently bought in the UK for Ukrainian polar explorers, moored in Odesa at the Odesa seaport on the morning of October 5.

Now this research vessel will take part in the expeditions of the National Antarctic Research Center (NASC). In August, the National Antarctic Research Center of Ukraine (NASC) and the British Antarctic Service signed an agreement to buy and sell to Ukraine a British icebreaker «James Clark Ross».

Proposals were left until August 29 inclusive. The best three ideas promise to be marked with unique gifts: sets of postcards with photos to the 25th anniversary of the station «Academician Vernadsky». According to Yevhen Dyky, this icebreaker also has a symbolic value for Ukraine, because it was with his help that the first Ukrainian expedition was delivered to Antarctica in 1996.

The James Clark Ross icebreaker was launched in 1990. Ukraine's ship, which is a year older than Ukraine itself, cost five million dollars.
