A new step towards security: Zelenskyy will sign an agreement with Spain in Madrid

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will travel to Madrid in the coming days to sign a bilateral security agreement with Spain. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will represent Spain during the signing ceremony. This information was spread by El Pais.

The agreement in question is similar to those that Ukraine has already concluded with other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, and Canada. The main goal of the agreement is to guarantee Ukraine permanent military support in the future and help it become a full member of NATO and the EU.

Negotiations on this agreement began in March and have already been successfully completed. It is expected to be approved by the Spanish Council of Ministers, but will not be submitted to Congress for ratification, as it does not have the status of an international treaty.

The agreement provides for Spain's long-term military assistance, supply of weapons, cooperation in training military forces, support for the Ukrainian defense industry, and information exchange in the field of intelligence and cybersecurity.
