Garibashvili resigns from the post of Prime Minister of Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is resigning. Prime Minister Garibashvili announced this at a briefing at the government administration.

 

 

"I would like to inform the public about the decision we have discussed with the team. Today, I am leaving the post of Prime Minister," stated Irakli Garibashvili.


Irakli Garibashvili first became the Prime Minister of Georgia in 2013, replacing Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the Georgian Dream. He resigned on December 30, 2015, and was replaced by Giorgi Kvirikashvili. Upon returning to the country's leadership, Garibashvili took over as prime minister for the second time on February 22, 2021, replacing Giorgi Gakharia.


Information indicates that Irakli Garibashvili will be replaced as Prime Minister by Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling party.
