President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in his telegram as part of his traditional evening address the dismissal of Oleksiy Reznikov from the post of Defense Minister.
This week, the parliament will have to consider and make a decision.
"I want to outline this now. I have decided to replace the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. Oleksiy Reznikov has been through these more than 550 days of full-scale war. I believe that the Ministry needs new approaches and other formats of interaction with both the military and society as a whole. Now Rustem Umerov should lead the Ministry," - the President added.
He also said that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine knows this person well, and that Mr. Umerov does not need additional introductions.
