The Georgian company Georgian Airways and its founder and manager appeared on the website of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption in the list of persons and companies threatened with sanctions in connection with Russia's war against Ukraine.

 Georgian Airways, its director Tamaz Gaiashvili, who is also the owner of Ltd Piloti and the founder of Air Dilijans, and his brother Davyd, appeared on the NAKC list marked as "natural/legal entity at risk of sanctions". Gaiashvili, who owns 80% of the company's shares.

 "Georgian Airways' activity, which is aimed at significantly intensifying and simplifying transport connections, including for representatives of Russian business in Georgia, leads to an increase in the risks of the formation of new schemes for circumventing sanctions, increasing the integration of Russian business into the Georgian economy," - the NAZC notes in comments on the grounds for the possible introduction of sanctions.

 The agency also notes that "Georgian Airways" is related to the handling company Aero Handling Georgia LLC through its founders and managers. Thus, the founders of the company Aero Handling Georgia LLC were: Davyd Tsivtsivadze, registered at the same address as the director of Georgian Airways, Tamaz Gaiashvili; Davyd Kvaratskhelia, the son of a pro-Russian Georgian figure, head of the Georgian-Russian Friendship Center, head of the "Neutral Georgia" party Valery Kvaratskhelia.

 Davyd Kvaratskhelia is also the director of the company Ltd Piloti (404541830), the sole owner of which is the director of Georgian Airways - Tamaz Gaiashvili.

 Aero Handling Georgia LLC (TIN 404672895) provides handling services to Georgian Airways, as well as to Russian airlines under the sanctions of Ukraine, namely Red Wings JSC and Azimut Airlines JSC.

 "These Russian airlines regularly operate flights to the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. Thus, the airlines and the crew of their aircraft violate the procedure for entering and leaving the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, for which criminal and administrative liability is provided," the statement said.  Georgia's ruling party and government welcomed the resumption of air links with Russia, while President Salome Zurabishvili called for a boycott of Georgian Airways. The company, for its part, declared her an undesirable person on its flights.

 Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Pavlo Herchynsky handed over the démarche to the Georgian Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of Economy Levan Davitashvili in connection with the resumption of direct air traffic between Tbilisi and Moscow.
