Minister of Education Lisovyi refused the degree of candidate of sciences

Lisovyi said that since May 29 he is no longer a candidate of sciences.

The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, refused the degree of candidate of sciences. He wrote about this on May 30 on Facebook.

He reminded that the government has already approved the mechanism of voluntary refusal of a scientific degree, the government made such a decision on May 19.

"Actually, I was the first to feel the mechanism of refusal. I wrote a corresponding statement and yesterday I am no longer a candidate of sciences. I am not going to hold on to formal statuses for myself. They are much more important than real affairs and actions," the minister wrote.

According to Lisovoy, the next step in establishing a new culture of academic integrity should be the corresponding law, which is currently still being finalized.

We will remind you that on March 19, information was published on the page of the "Ukrainian Movement of Pacifists" that there was plagiarism in Lysovoi's PhD thesis on philosophy.

On March 20, the resource "Errors and falsifications in scientific research" wrote about plagiarism in Lisovoy's dissertation. This site also contains publications about the academic dishonesty of the ex-head of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Serhii Shkarlet, and the ex-people's deputy from OPZZ Ilya Kiva.

Lisovyi reported on March 23 that he had submitted a thesis suspected of plagiarism to the National Agency for the Quality of Higher Education for verification. Its results were not publicly announced.
