Poland will lobby for the transfer of NATO-standard fighter jets to Ukraine, - Duda

Poland will lobby among its allies for the transfer of NATO-standard fighter jets to Ukraine. It will also continue to gradually provide our soldiers with MiG-29 aircraft.

President of Poland Andrzej Duda stated this in an interview with "Polish Radio".

As Duda explained, the Armed Forces must have aviation in order to resist Russian aggression in the air. Currently, this can be realized thanks to the transfer of the MiG-29, as Ukrainian pilots know how to fly them.

According to the president, Poland has a limited number of MiG-29s, and soon there will be almost no more of them left. The Polish military will also continue to use them until the fighters are replaced by FA-50s from South Korea.

"As soon as these planes arrive, and we have ordered 48 of them, we will be able to gradually hand over to Ukraine what is obsolete from NATO's point of view," the president emphasized.

Answering questions about the transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, Duda noted that Poland has a small number of them.

"First of all, we will lobby among NATO countries so that Ukraine can balance Russian power in the air, so that it has the necessary base for this, so that those countries that can provide Ukraine with their NATO-standard aircraft," the president added.
