Epiphanius appointed acting governor of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Archimandrite of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate Avraamiy (Latish) transferred to the OCU and became acting vicar of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

This was reported by the press service of OCU.

Avraamiy turned to His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius with a request to approve him as one of the brothers in the OCU monastery.

In turn, Epiphanius blessed Father Abraham to fulfill the duties of the vicar of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as part of the OCU.

The head of the OCU also appealed to the government to provide the Ukrainian Lavra with the use of premises for religious services, residence of the brothers and monastic activities. Epiphanius hopes that the state will help protect the vicar and the monastery from possible provocations by MP supporters.

The new vicar of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra has already addressed the brothers of the monastery. He noted that the events related to the Lavra happened through Metropolitan Paul (Lebid) and the Synod.

"Instead of dialogue - closure and threats. Instead of realizing the need to truthfully, sincerely and definitively break the subordination of Moscow, which is waging war against us - vague and half-hearted decisions and statements that everyone interprets as they wish. Instead of searching for ways of Orthodox unity and reconciliation - inciting enmity and confrontation," he said.

Abraham called to recognize the new canonical reality of the existence of the Local Orthodox Church in Ukraine, which has been granted the Tomos of autocephaly, which has the recognition of the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Local Churches, which has a canonically elected Primate Epiphanius.

"Dear fathers and brothers! I call on you to stay in the Lavra as part of the Local Orthodox Church of Ukraine under the omophorion of His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius. I am ready to communicate with you and strive to work together with you to renew our monastery as a real monastery and a place of spiritual renewal for monks and all the faithful ", he added.

Hundreds of believers gathered for the last service of the UOC MP in the Lavra. They also organized a rally against the eviction of the governors.
