Bulgaria recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people

On Wednesday, February 1, the Bulgarian parliament recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

 

 This was reported by the "Sega" publication.

 

 Today's decision of the National Assembly decided to commemorate the victims of the Holodomor every last Saturday of November.

 

 The proposal was unanimously supported by the majority of deputies of the Bulgarian government.

 

 It should be noted that in 2006, the Bulgarian parliament recognized the Holodomor as a Ukrainian genocide.

 

 President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyі thanked Bulgaria for recognizing the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians.

 

 "I am grateful to the Parliament of Bulgaria for recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. This step honors the memory of millions of victims of the Holodomor and restores historical justice. Ukraine will always remember Bulgaria's gesture of solidarity," he wrote on Twitter.

 

 The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba also welcomed the decision of the Parliament of Bulgaria.

 

 "I am grateful to all members of the Bulgarian parliament who supported the recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide. This is a worthy tribute to the memory of millions of its innocent victims, including members of the Bulgarian community. We remember together," he wrote on Twitter.
