Biden called the Kremlin's readiness for negotiations frivolous

The administration of US President Joe Biden rejected as frivolous the Kremlin's conditional willingness to discuss an end to Russia's war in Ukraine. This is reported by USA Today.

"I would look askance at anything coming out of the Kremlin when it comes to statements like this. Mr. Putin has shown no signs that he is willing to sit down and talk and end this war," White House spokesman John Kirby told reporters afterward. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for negotiations.

Kirby said the most visible action Putin could take to show the seriousness of his intentions is to withdraw his troops, stop shelling Ukrainian infrastructure and stop launching drones at civilian targets.

"Actions speak louder than words. And their actions convey the grim determination of the Russians to continue killing Ukrainians," the White House representative emphasized.
