Ukraine will receive a record-breaking tranche of non-refundable aid from the West

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a $4.5bn grant from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association. The non-refundable support is aimed at financing the Project "Support of Public Expenditures for Sustainable Public Administration in Ukraine".

This is stated in the Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 613-p of July 19, 2022.

The decree instructs the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Pension Fund of Ukraine, the State Service for Emergency Situations to ensure implementation of the Environmental and Social Commitments Plan (ESCP) provided for in the agreement

The International Development Association acts as administrator of the Multi-donor Trust Fund for co-financing of the "Supporting Public Expenditures for Sustainable Public Administration in Ukraine" Project.

Earlier in July, Ukraine received another $1.7 billion grant from the U.S. government. The funds were provided through the mechanism of the World Bank's trust fund and will be allocated to the state budget.

Let us remind you that so far Ukraine has been receiving considerably less assistance from the Western partners than the demand for USD 5 billion. In particular, in June 967,4 million dollars were received from the World Bank, 779,0 million dollars - from the Government of Canada, 479,4 million dollars - from the Agency for International Cooperation of Japan.
