The European Parliament has supported the granting of European macrofinancial assistance of 1 billion euros to Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance.

It is reported that the European Parliament supported the proposal of the European Commission to allocate the first tranche of macrofinancial assistance to Ukraine to meet its budgetary needs.

In the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance notes that the decision was made in an unprecedentedly short period of time. It still has to be supported by the EU Council, after which it will come into force.

The funds will also be used to ensure financial stability in Ukraine.

This is the first tranche of the agreed package of 9bn euros for social spending.
