A Russian-flagged tanker with 100,000 tons of oil confiscated in Greece

The United States seized 100,000 tons of Iranian oil that was being carried on a Russian ship near the Greek island of Evia in the Aegean Sea. The cargo was seized due to violation of Iranian sanctions.

This was reported by the AP.

Following a court ruling that sanctions were violated, the oil from the tanker is being transshipped to tanks at the port of Karistos on the island of Evia in the Aegean Sea. The Lana tanker was carrying more than 100,000 tons of Iranian oil, thus violating the U.S. and EU sanctions against Iran. Earlier the tanker was called Pegas, but now it is called Lana. It was operated by a crew of 19 Russians.

We recall that the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that the EU countries will soon decide on an embargo on Russian oil. This may happen by the end of this month.
