The European Parliament has passed a repeal MEPs have approved the abolition of EU duties on all Ukrainian exports for a year. This applies to industrial goods, fruits and vegetables, and steel, the European institution said.
"On Thursday, the parliament supported a one-year repeal of EU import duties on all Ukrainian exports in order to support the country's economy. This temporary trade liberalization, approved by 515 votes in favor, with 32 against and 11 abstentions, is a response to the consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine , which limits the country's ability to trade," the statement said.
To ensure passage in plenary today, procedures were expedited.
"The measures will completely abolish the import duty on industrial products, the import duty on fruits and vegetables, as well as the anti-dumping duty and safeguard measures on steel imports for a period of one year," the EH pointed out.
The EU Council is also expected to approve the decision.
The cancellation of duties will take effect the day after publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
