Britain signed mutual security guarantees with Sweden and Finland

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has signed mutual security guarantees with the leaders of Sweden and Finland amid growing threats in the region. This was reported by Sky News.

Johnson signed the declaration with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, and this afternoon he will travel to Finland to sign a similar security declaration with President Sauli Niiniste.

The declarations call for changes in defense and security cooperation between Britain and each country, increased intelligence sharing, accelerated joint military training, exercises and deployments, and enhanced security in all three countries and Northern Europe.

They will also allow Britain to cooperate with northern partners and their militaries in all areas, including cyberspace.

"We are unwavering and unequivocal in our support for both Sweden and Finland, and the signing of these security declarations is a symbol of enduring confidence between our countries," Johnson said.

"This is not a short-term alliance, but a long-term commitment to strengthen military ties and global stability, and to strengthen the defense of Europe for future generations," he stressed.
