Russian Federation switches to tactics of digging around Ukrainian cities to create humanitarian disasters in them - Podolyak

The Russian occupation army is trying to introduce new elements into its military tactics in Ukraine because of high casualties and is concentrating forces near major cities in order to create humanitarian disasters in them, notes Mykhail Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President.

"There is a partial entrenchment of the Russians in occupied lines, and this concentration of forces and means of destruction around our major cities - to create intentional humanitarian disasters in them," Podolyak wrote in Telegram on Thursday.

According to him, such tactics "are absolutely cannibalistic and have clear legal definitions in international law under the section of war crimes and crimes against humanity."

The adviser to the head of the President's Office said this is due to the Russians' attempts to put the war in Ukraine into a partially protracted phase because of high casualties and a lack of significant progress on all fronts. "It is this need to reduce all types of losses and try to "clean up" their rear as much as possible from disloyal elements (and this is almost 90-95% of the civilian population)," Podolyak noted.
