Senator Blumenthal initiates renewal of US military aid for Ukraine

"We need to put an end to Trump's disgusting diesel deal, provide military assistance, particularly in the field of air defense, and take additional measures to demonstrate the necessary support and force Putin to sit down at the negotiating table for a real peace," Blumenthal emphasized.

Senator Blumenthal initiates renewal of US military aid for Ukraine

The US can and must resume military aid to Ukraine as soon as possible, as well as strengthen sanctions against Russia, US Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal stated.

The politician emphasized that the results of the US elections helped bring the issues of Ukraine and its defense back into the spotlight.

According to Blumenthal, he plans to seize this moment and introduce a special bill to the US Congress. If his initiative gains support, Ukraine will again be able to receive military assistance from the US, which was blocked by President Donald Trump.

Furthermore, the senator, along with other Democrats, intends to pressure the White House to impose "sanctions from hell" against Russia, as well as to restore restrictions whose enforcement had been suspended.

"We need to put an end to Trump's disgusting diesel deal, provide military assistance, particularly in the field of air defense, and take additional measures to demonstrate the necessary support and force Putin to sit down at the negotiating table for a real peace," Blumenthal emphasized.

Moreover, the senator intends to demand that Trump replace his special envoys for Ukraine and Russia.

"US President Donald Trump needs new negotiators – not submissive puppets who call this brutal killer a 'humanitarian,'" the Democrat stated, referring to the controversial statement by Steve Witkoff.

Blumenthal also intends to ensure that Congress establishes control over the use of Starlink and Starshield in the public interest, as these systems play a critical role both for US national security and for its allies, including Ukraine.

Recently, media reports indicated that Democrats are preparing a $15 billion military aid package for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he counts on more large-scale assistance from the US following the Democrats' victory in the elections.
