During a blackout due to the massive transition to mobile Internet, the load on mobile operators' networks increases sharply. This, in turn, leads to communication problems. Yuriy Matsyk, Director of the Fixed Internet Development Department at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, said this during the telethon.

“In Ukraine, the network is built in such a way that most users use the Internet through a fixed network, while the rest use mobile communications. At the same time, 80% of the traffic is used through a fixed wifi network,” explained the director of the department.

He added that during power outages, mobile phones switch to cellular data, which increases the load on mobile operators' towers. The latter are unable to cope with the significant increase in the number of mobile Internet users, which leads to communication problems.

Moreover, the frequency resource of operators, on which network capacity depends, has limitations that cannot be simply increased. The Ministry of Digital Transformation also urged citizens to take care of the stable operation of the network at home. To do this, you need to contact your provider and ask about the possibility of connecting xPON technology.
