China has responded to Zelensky's accusations of disrupting the peace conference in Switzerland. They said that China has never “fanned the flames and did not fuel the flames” of the Russian-Ukrainian war, The Guardian reports.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said that Beijing's position on the peace conference is very “open and transparent.”

China believes that “all efforts should be recognized” in support of peace in Ukraine, and has never “stoked the fire or fanned the flames.”

Beijing reportedly “attaches great importance” to relations with Ukraine and remains its largest trading partner.

“We believe we can achieve understanding and support from all sides,” Mao Ning said.

It will be recalled that Zelensky criticized China in Singapore for refusing to participate in the peace summit in Switzerland. He said that China “is a tool in Putin's hands and is working to prevent other countries from coming to the summit.”
