When Georgian Dream deputy Mamuka Mdinaradze was arguing with a representative of the opposition Lelo party, Aleko Elisashvili, leader of the Citizens party, reportedly approached him and punched him in the face.

The MPs then left the hall and continued to fight in the corridor.

Eventually, Elisashvili left the parliament building and gave an emotional comment to journalists, saying that he had been kicked out of the building.

"I got fed up with all this, and I punched this Russian agent in the face. I have always tried to communicate with Georgian Dream in a human way, but they are leading us to Russia. Now is not the time to sit at home, we need to go out. We have to throw them out together with their Russian law," he said.

As noted, the incident caused a half-hour break in the committee meeting, after which it continued. Resuming the discussion, Committee Chairman Anri Okhanashvili called on the opposition forces and human rights activists to "assess the disgusting behavior of this person" and promised a "strict response" to provocations.

Mamuka Mdinaradze said that Elisashvili "snuck up on him like a thief" and that it was "not manly."
