In order to prevent a "catastrophic defeat" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Britain, France and the countries of Northern Europe are already preparing to send troops to Ukraine. This was stated by US State Department consultant, writer and historian Edward Luttwak in his column for UnHerd.
"NATO countries will soon have to send soldiers to Ukraine, otherwise they will accept a catastrophic defeat. The British and French, along with the Nordic countries, are already slowly preparing to send troops - both small elite units and logistics and support personnel - who may remain far from the front lines," he wrote.
According to Luttwak, this will help relieve the Ukrainian Armed Forces of some of the burden in the rear and send more Ukrainian troops to the front.
At the same time, the United States, in his opinion, cannot provide more troops than the approximately 40,000 already in Europe because of the threat of China's invasion of Taiwan. Therefore, this should be done by other NATO members, "especially the most populous ones": Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
Otherwise, in his opinion, Ukraine will lose and Russia will attack Europe itself.
