Despite the constant shelling of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region, 875 people remain in the city. Most of them are pensioners. This was stated by the head of the CMA Serhii Chaus during a telethon.
"At the moment, 875 people remain in the community. We have reduced the number a little bit, people have moved a little bit, but it's impossible to say that this is a large flow. People still stay in their apartments and houses. And you can see the number, the number is considerable," he said.
According to him, yesterday they organized a teleconference with one of the shelters located in central Ukraine.
"We showed our residents who have already left what services they receive. We are trying to tell people that evacuation saves lives. Most of them are people of retirement age, people well over 60," added Chaus.
The head of the CMA noted that the shelling in the city has not stopped, and "there has been no silence in recent months."
"There are some moments of calm, but every day there is artillery, aircraft, mortars. It's getting more and more difficult every day. As for the humanitarian situation, we continue to work. We are delivering humanitarian aid to the residents - water delivery, the minimum set of things that can be done during the hostilities, despite the risks and difficult situation," he said.
