The Verkhovna Rada's session was canceled this week: details

The plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada, which was scheduled to take place from March 6 to 8, has been canceled. The official reason for this is the preparation of an urgent report to the US Senate. As a result, the adoption of the draft law on mobilization has been postponed again. The cancellation of the meetings was announced by MPs Iryna Gerashchenko and Oleksiy Honcharenko of the European Solidarity party and Yaroslav Zheleznyak of the Voice party.

Gerashchenko noted that in addition to an hour of questions to the government, the meetings were planned to consider important laws on security, mobilization and the ban on the activities of the UOC MP.

"Unfortunately, the agenda of the next three plenary days did not include important security laws, bills on mobilization and the ban on Moscow priests, but there were ratifications and other bills. MPs were going to a session. It was canceled by the mono-majority and the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada at the last minute," she said.

MP Zheleznyak gave the official reason for the cancellation. According to him, there was "an urgent need to make a comprehensive report for the US Senate." At the same time, he suggested that the Rada would not be able to meet for another month.

"Yesterday, at the conciliation board with the factions, there were four ministers who asked not to postpone their laws and to vote quickly. Today the coalition cancels 3 days of voting. In fact, the Rada will not meet for a month. But it will be a shame, because during the war the Parliament will not meet for almost a month," he added.

According to Oleksiy Honcharenko, there is a scandal in the Rada with obstruction of deputies' business trips. Goncharenko noted that a number of factions have announced their intention to block the work of the Rada due to the fact that the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada did not allow some MPs to travel abroad.

Honcharenko also said that the "mono-majority" does not have enough votes to pass important laws. In his opinion, this is also the reason why the Rada's meetings are canceled.

"Even the OPFL is not enough," he wrote.
