EU countries will buy $1.5 billion worth of ammunition for Ukraine - Bloomberg

At an urgent conference on Ukraine, the EU countries agreed to purchase $1.5 billion worth of shells for Kyiv. This was reported by the American publication Bloomberg.

The article says that the EU cannot quickly provide Ukraine with the required amount of ammunition, so at the meeting in Paris it was decided to purchase from third-party manufacturers.

Even French President Emmanuel Macron, who had previously lobbied for the use of EU money exclusively for purchases from European factories, supported the Czech proposal.

As a reminder, Czech President Petr Pavel said that his country has planned to buy 500,000 155 mm caliber shells and another 300,000 122 mm caliber shells, which can be delivered within a few weeks if the money is allocated.
