Ukraine implements measures to ensure export stability: new logistics projects

To reduce the effects of the blockade of the Ukrainian-Polish border and to support exports and imports, Ukraine is implementing a number of logistics projects. This was announced on Facebook by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure.

"Today we are working on the border with Poland to fulfill the instructions of the President of Ukraine. Our task is to maintain the sustainability and rhythm of exports, to launch alternative export and import routes. We have prepared a list of solutions that we are starting to implement," the statement said.

For example, Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company is preparing to send the first barge caravans to the Romanian ports of Galati and Constanta and to Regensburg, Germany, via the Danube. River transportation by the UDS fleet can compensate for the transportation of up to 5 thousand trucks

The government projects also provide for the use of all 15 operating border crossings with European countries for cargo transportation. This will allow to diversify routes and effectively use existing border infrastructure.

A new intermodal service was introduced that combines the transportation of container trains and combined transport trains. This has already allowed for the transportation of 50 intermodal trains to Romanian and Polish ports and 155 to Ukrainian ports.

The government is also working on expanding the capacity of rail lines to seaports and building road checkpoints to increase capacity. There are plans to reconstruct the passenger terminal in Uzhhorod to increase capacity for freight transport.
