France is having difficulty paying for the three billion euros in aid promised to Ukraine due to a limited budget. Bloomberg reports with reference to sources.
Large-scale spending cuts have led to the fact that the French government cannot find the funds. Therefore, the ministries of defense, foreign affairs and finance will be asked to redirect funds and find opportunities for savings.
Over the weekend, Paris lowered its GDP forecast for 2024 and said it needed to save 10 billion euros to meet its budget deficit reduction commitments. It also needs to provide the promised expensive aid to the protesting farmers.
In total, France says it has spent 3.8 billion euros to support Ukraine.
