The United States will supply Ecuador with Sikorsky UH-604/L Black Hawk helicopters in exchange for the transfer of Soviet and Russian Mi-17s to Ukraine. This was reported by Infodefensa.

"The transfer of these aircraft will follow the transfer of Russian Mi-171 and 17-1B helicopters of the Ecuadorian army, which currently have minimal operational readiness due to problems with maintenance and the purchase of spare parts," the report says.

The Ecuadorian Armed Forces will become the sixth Black Hawk operator in Latin America. These helicopters will be used to fight against terrorist organizations operating in the country.

The United States will provide technical assistance in the operation of the Black Hawk, including crew training, consulting, logistical support, and the supply of spare parts to ensure the effective operation of these helicopters.
