The Embassy of Ukraine in Poland expects a decisive reaction from the Polish side after the incident at the border, where farmers spilled some grain out of Ukrainian trucks near the border crossing in Dorohusk. This was stated by Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych.
Zvarych said that the Ukrainian trucks, which were stopped by the farmers and partially dumped out of them, were sealed after customs procedures and were supposed to be in transit to Lithuania.
"The Embassy and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin immediately appealed to the Polish police to open a case on the fact of this shameful crime," the ambassador said.
According to him, the Polish police opened the proceedings and started the necessary procedures.
"Such methods of the protesters should not be acceptable in a European civilized country, not to mention the moral side of this provocation. Therefore, we demand that the perpetrators be found and brought to justice. The Polish authorities must respond decisively in the legal field to this shameful and offensive crime for Ukrainians and the majority of Poles and prevent such barbaric actions in the future," the ambassador emphasized.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi also reacted to the incident and called the Polish farmers who poured Ukrainian grain out of the trucks "pro-Russian provocateurs."
"Let's call a spade a spade. This photo shows Ukrainian grain poured out of Ukrainian trucks by Polish, but in fact pro-Russian provocateurs. The pseudo-blockade on the border continues. Ukrainians are literally watering the fields that produce this grain with blood. Harvesting wheat on a field that has seen war is like working as a sapper. Such actions are a lowliness and a disgrace," Sadovyi wrote.
As we reported earlier, Polish farmers protesting near the Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Ukraine spilled grain from three Ukrainian trucks on the road.
