SBU uncovers network of Russian agents in Ukrainian special services

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a group of former and current employees of special services who are suspected of working for the aggressor country Russia. This was reported by the SBU press service on February 6.

According to the press service, five people were detained, including former employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service, as well as an employee of one of the SBU's regional offices. They passed on information about the defense forces and energy facilities to Russia, the investigation believes.

According to the case, the ex-foreign intelligence officer was recruited by the Russian FSB before the full-scale invasion while he was in the service.

"Since then, he has been collecting information about the locations of the Ukrainian military, and after February 24, 2022, about the channels of transportation of foreign weapons to Ukraine. The Russian agent also passed secret information to the FSB about the peculiarities of the work and security systems of Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs," the SBU said, noting that the suspect passed the data to the occupiers, including when traveling abroad as a volunteer.
