The new Senate bill: $118 billion to help Ukraine, Israel, and the US border

The US Senate has published a new draft law on additional funding that combines allocations for assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and to strengthen the US southern border. This was reported by the White House press service.

According to the text of the bill, the total amount of funds allocated is $118 billion, of which $60 billion is provided to help Ukraine, another $14 billion to support Israel, and $20.23 billion to protect the US borders.

Overall, the bill allocates funds as follows:

  • $60.06 billion to support Ukraine;
  • $14.1 billion to support Israel;
  • $20.2 billion for border security.

As part of the assistance to Ukraine:

  • About $14 billion is earmarked for the purchase of new weapons from American military-industrial complex companies;
  • $15 billion for military training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as intelligence sharing and other support measures;
  • about $8 billion - for direct budget support to Ukraine;
  • $1.58 billion to support the Ukrainian economy.

The US president said that if the USA "does not stop Putin's appetite for power and control in Ukraine, it will not be limited to Ukraine - the price for America will increase."

"I urge Congress to come together and quickly pass this bipartisan agreement. Put it on my desk so I can sign it into law immediately," Biden emphasized.

Another $20 billion is also allocated to replenish military stocks in the United States. In addition, the document contains funding for humanitarian aid in the Red Sea and Taiwan.

The document says that the main difference in the new proposal is that more than $13 billion is allocated for border security, which was the main point of contention during months of negotiations in the Senate.
