A new version of the draft law on mobilization has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In particular, it contains changes that affect Ukrainians of conscription age abroad. This is stated in the new draft law on mobilization.
It stipulates that under martial law in Ukraine, men of military age abroad will need military registration documents to apply to consulates.
"The validity of military registration documents shall be verified by a consular official of a foreign diplomatic institution of Ukraine in accordance with the procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine," the draft law says.
In what cases military registration documents will not be required at the consulate:
- Issuance of an identity card at a diplomatic mission for return to Ukraine;
- Performing consular actions in relation to children of a citizen of Ukraine who have a foreign parent or a stateless person;
- Notarization of inheritance matters;
- Act upon applications of Ukrainian citizens who are under arrest, detained or imprisoned abroad.
Male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 will be able to apply for internal and foreign passports only if they have military registration documents.
