Rosneft's Tuapse refinery has stopped refining oil and producing petroleum products due to the attack by Ukrainian drones on January 25. Reuters reports, citing industry sources.
The Tuapse refinery is the largest on the Black Sea coast of Russia and its annual processing volume reaches up to 9 million tons of raw materials. According to the agency, the refinery stopped working due to a fire caused by a Ukrainian drone strike.
The drone attack damaged a vacuum unit, which led to a fire that broke out on January 25.
Reuters reports that resuming production could take a long time, possibly until late February or early March..
Rosneft, Russia's largest oil producer, is currently declining to comment.
According to Ukrainian sources, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) organized the strike and plans to continue attacking facilities that supply fuel to Russian troops in the conflict with Ukraine.
"The SBU strikes deep into the Russian Federation and continues to attack facilities that are not only important for the Russian economy, but also provide fuel for enemy troops," the source said.
Unofficial Telegram channels showed photos of the fire and also said that drones were the culprits.
The strike was at least the fourth in the past week to target Russia's energy infrastructure, including an attack on a fuel export terminal in the Baltic Sea and a refinery in the port of Ust-Luga that transports oil products.
