Danish Foreign Minister arrives in Ukraine and promises millions in support to fight corruption

The head of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, arrived in Ukraine on a visit. He announced financial support to fight corruption in the country. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark has been leading the EU's anti-corruption program in Ukraine (EUACI) since 2016. During today's visit, Rasmussen announced support for the third phase of the program.

"Even before Russia's illegal invasion, Ukraine had made significant progress in the fight against corruption, and even during the war, the country managed to continue its positive development. But there are still areas for improvement, and it is very important for Ukraine's dreams of the EU that we help it achieve its goals," the minister said.

The press service reports that the European Union provides more than 70 million Danish kroner ($10.21 million) for the next phase of the program, and Denmark, for its part, is allocating just under 60 million ($8.75 million).

"Among other things, the program focuses on promoting transparency and integrity in the reconstruction of Mykolaiv through close cooperation with the mayor and his team," the press service writes.

In particular, it is planned to develop best practices for the reconstruction of Mykolaiv, which can be used in other cities of Ukraine in the future.
