Ukraine's strategy in 2024 will be offensive - US State Department

US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien said that the strategy of Ukraine's military campaign to defeat Russia in 2024 will be "offensive," Voice of America reports.

In addition, according to the official, it will be based "on what was done in 2023."

Especially on the "outstanding success in securing access to the Black Sea and destabilizing Russia's ability to use Crimea against Ukraine," O'Brien added.

He also emphasized the growth of Ukraine's economy in 2023, and called the Kremlin's economists "very talented" because they manage to "still cover Putin" and keep imports at almost pre-war levels.

Asked whether the US has a "plan B" if Congress does not approve additional funding for Ukraine, O'Brien said: "I'll resist the temptation to discuss a 'plan B'.

At the same time, he expressed hope that the necessary vote will take place soon.
