The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, spoke about his relationship with US President Donald Trump and noted that there is no personal disagreement between them.
According to him, the tension in relations with the US is not connected to his personal relationship with Trump. The issue concerns the lifting of sanctions against Russia, which strengthens the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
"My attitude towards Putin is quite clear. I believe that if we lift sanctions, we will make him stronger. This is not a personal thing between me and President Trump, and of course, I am against lifting the sanctions," Zelenskyy stated.
As the President noted, European partners have provided Ukraine with a certain number of air defense missiles, however, this is "not enough for self-defense."
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is currently asking its allies for two things most urgently: to maintain sanctions against Putin and to provide Ukraine with the best missiles.
He added that it is unlikely that Putin is striving for peace; he is playing with other people's lives and does not want the war to end.
"Therefore, we want our partners to prevent him from growing stronger and breaking us," he noted.
Zelenskyy hinted at the possibility of freezing the current front lines, but not at the cost of their own territories.
"Many people died to protect this land, our independence, our country. No one will recognize these temporarily occupied territories as Russian, and I think Russia understands this. It is a pity if someone does not understand this, but that is their business," Zelenskyy stated.
