The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna refutes the information spread by some media that Kyiv is working with Brussels on the return of Ukrainians who are temporarily staying in the territory of the member states of the European Union as part of the EU's temporary protection mechanism, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
"Undoubtedly, there is no direct position of Ukraine that Ukrainians should go back, and therefore any (EU) aid to them should be reduced. This is absolutely not the case. The principle position for us is that Ukrainian citizens who are in the European Union, should have the right to temporary protection," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
At the same time, she reported that Ukraine is negotiating with the EU regarding payments to refugees.
"Another issue is financial payments. Unfortunately, the war continues. We must decide on the social guarantees that citizens have in each country. But this is not a radical communication, not a negative one. This dialogue (Ukraine and the EU) continues," said Stefanishyna.
