NATO launches Steadfast Defender 24, its largest exercise in decades, by the end of spring

NATO's largest exercise in decades, Steadfast Defender 24, started yesterday, January 24. They will last until the end of spring. This was reported by the North Atlantic Alliance.

An important milestone in the start of the exercise was the departure of the amphibious dock ship USS Gunston Hall from Norfolk (Virginia, USA), which marks the beginning of a series of operations to transit the Atlantic.

The first tactical movement of Steadfast Defender 24 was marked by the departure of the warship USS Gunston Hall, and at the end of the month the Canadian ship Charlottetown will depart Halifax (Nova Scotia) for Europe.

NATO officials emphasize that the planned exercises will be important for demonstrating the Alliance's ability to quickly deploy forces from North America and other regions to strengthen Europe's defense.
