"The Servant of the People" proposes to pay more taxes on earnings over UAH 20 thousand and to tax the purchase of an iPhone

The "Servant of the People" faction has proposed taxing the purchase of a new iPhone by Ukrainians and paying more taxes on salaries exceeding UAH 20,000. This proposal was voiced by Roksolana Pidlasa, a member of the "Servant of the People" faction in parliament and head of the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee, during a telethon.

The presenter asked the people's deputy where to get money for mobilization and the continuation of the war.

"I am in favor of a progressive tax scale. If you earn little, you shouldn't have to pay a big tax even now. And if you earn more than UAH 20,000, you could pay a military tax of 3% instead of 1.5%. People's deputies have higher salaries, we could pay 5%. It would be fair," the MP said in response to a question.

She also suggested introducing an additional luxury tax for expensive goods.

"We can also think about a luxury tax. Despite the war, we have a huge number of cars and expensive equipment entering the country. We see from customs statistics how many laptops and phones we import every month. If it is a new iPhone for 60-70 thousand hryvnias, it may be subject to additional customs duties," said the head of the Budget Committee.
