Allocation of aid to Ukraine: Biden invites congressional leaders for discussion

US President Joe Biden has invited congressional leaders to the White House to hold talks on providing aid to Ukraine, Politico reports.

It is noted that lawmakers in the Senate have spent months discussing a potential bipartisan agreement to add new border and immigration policy restrictions to Biden's request for $100 billion for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and border security. However, these talks have not yet resulted in a deal.

Among the expected participants:

  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer;
  • Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell;
  • Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson;
  • House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Politico writes that the meeting will also be attended by the heads of key committees, in particular those who head the appropriations committees. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
