With the help of the "Affordable Medicines" program, Ukrainians can receive medicines for the treatment of mental disorders and epilepsy free of charge. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
This summer, an updated register of medicines and medical devices subject to reimbursement came into force. Their cost is partially or fully reimbursed by the National Health Service of Ukraine.
"The reimbursement program includes 65 medicines prescribed for mental and behavioral disorders.
These and other medicines included in the list of the "Affordable Medicines" program can be obtained free of charge or with a partial co-payment in the following way:
- In case of mental disorders, see your family or personal doctor or psychiatrist, and in case of epilepsy, see a neurologist or psychiatrist;
- The doctor will create a treatment plan in the electronic healthcare system (EHS) and issue the first prescription based on it;
- For subsequent prescriptions, you can visit a primary care doctors: a family doctor, a therapist, or a pediatrician;
- The doctor will write a prescription based on the treatment plan drawn up by a specialist doctor. With the prescription, go to a pharmacy that has a contract with the NHSU under the reimbursement program.
You can find the nearest pharmacy that dispenses medicines and medical products under the reimbursement program:
- by calling the NHSU contact center at 16-77;
- using the dashboard on the website of the National Health Service.
