The UN has called on Kyiv and Moscow to take "immediate steps to de-escalate". This statement was made by High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
He called on Ukraine and the Russian Federation to ensure the protection of civilians and compliance with international law.
"Alarming escalation of hostilities, dozens of civilians killed in Ukraine and Russia. International humanitarian law prohibits indiscriminate attacks and attacks on civilian objects," the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said on social network X.
