A civilian ship under the Panama flag explodes on a mine in the Black Sea

A Panamanian-flagged civilian vessel has been blown up by a sea mine in the Black Sea, the Southern Defense Forces reported.

"The bulk carrier was on its way to a Danube port to load grain," the statement said.

The ship lost its course and control, and a fire broke out on the top deck. To avoid sinking, the captain anchored the vessel in the shallows.

The vessel was assisted by the boats of the maritime guard and search and rescue service. Medics were brought on board. They found two wounded sailors.

"One person was treated on the spot, the other wounded was taken to the nearest hospital for further examination, accompanied by medics. His condition is satisfactory," the Southern Defense Forces reported.

Tugboats were sent to the vessel to remove it from the shoal and bring it to the port.
