Switzerland has joined the sanctions against Russia contained in the 12th package recently adopted by the European Union. This was reported on the website of the Swiss Federal Council.
According to the information published on the website of the Swiss Federal Department of Economics, Education and Research (EAER), the country imposed sanctions on 61 individuals and 86 legal entities within its jurisdiction.
Among the sanctioned individuals are members of the Belarusian Armed Forces, heads of companies that support Russia's military and industrial potential, and members of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.
The new sanctions also targeted mostly Russian companies active in the defense sector.
It is important to note that the Swiss Federal Council reported that there are currently no direct imports of natural or synthetic diamonds from Russia to Switzerland.
