Germany will not apply coercive measures against Ukrainian refugees regarding military service in Ukraine. According to DW, this was stated by German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann.
He emphasized that it is not Germany's practice to force people to perform or serve in the army against their will.
"Forcing people to perform military service or to serve in the military against their will is not our case," said Buschmann.
According to him, if the Ukrainian authorities want to draft men who have left the country, this will not have practical consequences for Ukrainians living in Germany.
"It is impossible for me to imagine how we can force people from other countries to serve with arms in their hands, given that according to our constitution, German citizens are not obliged to do so against their will," the German minister said.
It is worth noting that Germany is one of the countries that has accepted the largest number of Ukrainian refugees.
As a reminder, yesterday, German publications WELT and Bild published an interview with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, in which he said that the Defense Ministry plans to draft Ukrainians from abroad for military service. Later, the ministry denied the statement.
