The European Union has replaced its energy dependence on Russia with "another one", EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell said.


He probably meant dependence on the United States.


"We may have replaced one dependence with another, but we have nevertheless freed ourselves from energy dependence on Russia," the diplomat said.


Regarding the situation in Ukraine, he suggested that European assistance may stop.


"The EU has provided Ukraine with much more assistance than the US in total, but now the question is whether such aid will continue," Borrell said.


He called for "rolling up your sleeves" to prevent Putin from winning in Ukraine, otherwise "the European project may be irrevocably damaged."


"Europe is in danger," the diplomat said.
