Ukraine has reduced the requested amount of external financing for 2024 to $37.3 billion, - Marchenko

Ukraine has revised the amount required from international partners to finance the state's expenses in 2024. After the adjustment, the Ministry of Finance needs $37.3 billion instead of $41 billion, as previously estimated. This was announced by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.

"The need for external financing for 2024 was reduced from $41 billion due to measures to maximize state budget revenues, activate the domestic debt market and other measures. All capital expenditures of the state budget have been reduced. In 2024, the key tasks are the military campaign and social support. And while defense and security are financed exclusively at the expense of domestic budget revenues, we are counting on the help of international partners to meet the needs of the social sphere," Marchenko said.

This amount was verified by experts of the International Monetary Fund.

Marchenko noted that in 2023, the Ministry of Finance managed to attract more than $39 billion in external financing. Taking into account the last days of the year, donor assistance should amount to about $42.3 billion.

As a reminder, both of Ukraine's major donors, the European Union and the United States, have not yet approved financial assistance to Ukraine for 2024. The EU leaders are going to do so on February 1, while the US Congress has not yet supported this issue.
