Poland completes investigation into President Kaczyński crash: liquidation of subcommittee

The Polish authorities have decided to liquidate the subcommittee in the Ministry of Defense that was investigating the plane crash with Polish President Lech Kaczyński near Smolensk. This was reported by the Polish Ministry of Defense on Twitter.

According to the ministry, today, December 15, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamysh decided to cancel the resolution on the establishment of a subcommittee of the Polish Ministry of Defense to investigate the crash of the Tu-154 aircraft on April 10, 2010.

"The subcommittee is being liquidated, and its members must account for all documentation, property and equipment used for the work of the subcommittee by next Monday, December 18, 2023," the statement said.

The members of the subcommittee have all the powers and instructions for actions related to the work of the subcommittee.

Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said that the committee was liquidated to "stop spending hundreds of millions of zlotys on activities that have nothing to do with finding out the causes of the Smolensk disaster, but are directly related to politics."

It is worth noting that the subcommittee was established by resolution on February 4, 2016. It was approved by the then Minister of Defense Antoniy Matserevych.
