Danilov on possible postponement of EU accession talks: it will not be the end of the world

Ukraine will be disappointed if the start of EU accession negotiations is postponed. But it would be the end of the world. This was stated by Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in an interview with La Repubblica.

The interview was published the day before the EU leaders' summit in Brussels.

The journalists asked what Ukraine's reaction would be if Hungary blocked the start of membership negotiations.

"We would be disappointed. But it would not be the end of the world. I am interested in something else. What is the European Union? If it is a community of values, we certainly meet all the criteria of freedom. We are a democratic country. A community that supports freedom of speech and human rights," Danilov said.

The NSDC Secretary added that winning the war is not only about protecting Ukrainians.

According to Danilov, Ukraine's defeat could lead to the Baltic states and Poland becoming the next victims of Russian aggression.
